CCBI has supported Xima village, Fushun County, since 2002. After several discussions for years, it is recommended to develop the lotus root industry according to structure, location and environmental resources of Xima village. The lotus root planting areas has annually increased and reached 93.33 hectares. It is also recommended to develop the breeding industry. More than 50 duck farms, 40 goose farms and 20 fishponds that were developed.
Cadres who were responsible for support found conditions of production, life and committee office in the village were relatively poor, the surface of several tractor-ploughing roads was seriously damaged and office of village committee was crude. The institute annually donated 20,000 ($ 3190.91) to resolve village conditions, built the village committee office with the area of 210 square meters, two-hardened road of 6.5 kilometers and sidewalk of 8 kilometers.
After informing the limited funds on learning in the village and lack of essential learning materials, institute committees arranged and printed more than 200 learning materials with various types and subscribed 20 newspapers of Sichuan Economic Daily for the village.
CCBI staff donated clothes to Xima village. Also, cadres visited old and destitute villagers and gave them money. They provided 87 sets of school supplies for primary and middle school students in 2009.
